The Verband Hamburger und Bremer Schiffsmakler e.V. (VHBS) is a voluntary association of shipbroking companies based in Bremen and Hamburg that promotes their common interests

Verband Hamburger und Bremer Schiffsmakler e. V.
The “Vereinigung Hamburger Schiffsmakler und Schiffsagenten e.V.” was founded on January 8, 1897 and merged with the “Vereinigung Bremer Schiffsmakler und Schiffsagenten e.V.” in June 2018 as the “Verband Hamburger und Bremer Schiffsmakler e.V.”.
Today, the association is a voluntary association of shipbrokers and ship agents based in and around Bremen and Hamburg. The association currently has around 150 members, liner agents, chartering brokers, buying and selling brokers and clearing agents.
Among other things, the association promotes the exchange of economic and technical knowledge and experience among its members. This includes
- advising and informing members on all industry-specific topics
- representing the interests of the shipbroking industry vis-à-vis the authorities in Hamburg and Bremen, e.g. economic authorities, environmental authorities, tax authorities, as well as customs and port authorities.
- Its tasks also include representing the interests of its members vis-à-vis the social partner ver.di in collective bargaining and negotiating and issuing a collective wage agreement for commercial employees in the Hamburg transport industry.
- Close cooperation with other organizations in the transport industry in the interests of its members
