BoB - Online Information on Berth Occupancy for Barges

Online map application on the current availability of waiting berths in the Port of Hamburg

Back

HPA provides digital berth occupancy display for inland vessels.

The digital display of berth occupancy gives barge operators the opportunity to check the availability of waiting berths online. To this end, the HPA has made the barge berths in the areas of

  • Billwerder Bay
  • Reiherstieg and
  • Aue main dyke

areas and developed a service that determines the current occupancy of the berths and makes it available. AIS signals supported by radar information are used to generate the display status. This means that all inland waterway vessel berth areas in the Port of Hamburg are covered by the service.

The display takes place in the GeoPortal of the HPA and shows the status for the respective berth areas

  • “free”
  • “partially occupied”
  • “occupied”
  • “closed”

in the form of icons in traffic light colors.

For inland waterway vessel operators, the new option reduces parking search traffic and thus emissions and costs.
