The GEGIS dangerous goods information system is operated by DAKOSY on behalf of the City of Hamburg specifically for the safety and monitoring of dangerous goods transportation in the port. It provides the water police and fire department with an exact and timely overview of all dangerous goods movements to, in and from the port area.
According to current port safety regulations, the companies involved in handling dangerous goods (terminals and shipowners/brokers) must report all dangerous goods movements electronically to GEGIS. GEGIS offers an EDI platform and a web application for this purpose. The EDI platform enables the EDIFACT interface to be integrated into the in-house system. The reports are conveniently recorded and transmitted via the web application. At the same time, the GEGIS registration fulfills the start-up requirements for the central federal reporting office in Cuxhaven. Notifications for the ports of Amsterdam, Rotterdam, Antwerp, Felixstowe and Le Havre can be sent via the Protect interface.
Regulations and substance databases
A wealth of regulations and special features must be observed when handling dangerous goods. For this reason, various substance and regulations databases are integrated into GEGIS, providing customers and authorities with comprehensive information and assistance in combating damage.
The substance data modules provide information on assessing the risk of accidents, first aid measures and combating the consequences of accidents. The regulations provide information on the transport and handling of dangerous goods for each mode of transport, including classification, labeling, substance properties and packaging regulations.
Stowage & Segregation
The Stowage & Segregation regulations provide comprehensive information on the applicable stowage and segregation regulations.
As a customer, you can call up all stowage and segregation regulations for any hazardous goods. In addition, the system checks - with graphical support - which dangerous goods may be combined in a container, for example, and when segregation regulations apply
